When should you take something off your CV?

Friday, January 9th, 2009 - cv writing

Debbie asks: My CV is getting a little chock at the moment. I am only in Uni but i did alot of stuff in high school that used to be relevant to me. Now im wondering whether i should trim the fat. When should you take stuff off your CV e.g. old jobs, old courses etc

In answer:

The only items you should have on your CV are the competencies which are relevant to the position you are applying for.

If the advert says X educational skills and Y experience, you should try to match that+ in your CV, with X+ educational skills and Y+ experience.

If you are having trouble getting your CV down to two pages, read the blog article “Why was I rejected” for finding out why you could be rejected before filling out your application.

Good Luck!
